After my last blog, I felt a bit down for obvious reasons, so I'm trying to focus on a more lighthearted topic this time... How about some nice commercialization to cheer you all up?
Red Nose Day is approaching again, and with it comes a whole load of material advertising it. The following is just what I've found through the shops and stuff. There could be loads more, hiding away somewhere.
This year's red nose seems to just be a 'round' piece of foam. I use the word 'round' loosely because once I had got it out of the box, on closer inspection, it wasn't round at all, actually being an oblongish shape. Hence my screaming 'BE ROUND!' at it all day while shopping with Ayii and Emma. This year's red nose also seems to hate the type of nose that I have, as it kept on falling off every time I tried to breathe. Needless to say, we got some strange stares, wandering around with red noses on three weeks too early (helpfully pointed out by a little kid whose birthday was near that time). The red nose also helpfully comes with a piece of white chocolate, which I ate before anyone could say 'baa'.
Noses aren't the only thing you can buy this year. You can also accessorize your hair, Comic Relief style. What about some nice Comic Relief boppers or a red, curly wig? Or, you could go the whole hog and get some red hair dye! The wigs, combined with the red noses, got us some even stranger stares.
Finally, if you're really bored, you can order some free, huge red rubber ears from WalkEars. Though they drop a billion hints that you should donate, and make you feel really, really guilty if you don't.
Oh, I almost forgot: You can also buy a T-shirt, but I ran out of money before then.
Finally, no, I was not sponsored or anything like that. Considering the hits I get, who'd be mad enough to? :D I'm just bored, if that helps. And, last important fact: IT'S FOR CHARITY.
You may have heard about the shootings that have happened in London recently, but the last one that happened is especially close to my heart. Why? Well, when I was younger I used to go to a Thai temple in Wimbledon every week to learn Thai and stuff, like a lot of other people. I also did Thai dancing. Now, you're probably wondering how that shooting on Valentine's Day has any relevance with the fact that I did Thai dancing. I used to do Thai dancing with a girl called Elizabeth. When I was 8 or 9, she was one of my friends there, along with Natasha and the other Thai dancers. You can see us in action here (she's front right and I'm back right). Her brother Billy was also enrolled in the Thai school, and would occasionally come over to annoy us. I distinctly remember him pushing me down the stairs once, so I can't say I liked him very much. Sorry; this isn't the time or place for bad-taste jokes.
I stopped going to the Thai temple when I was 10 or 11 because the travelling was a pain in the butt. After that, I lost contact with Elizabeth and her family. When my mum came last August to pick up an award from the Princess of Thailand for services to the community or something, I saw Elizabeth and Billy again. We didn't get to speak or anything; everyone was so busy with worrying about the Princess. They'd changed so much.
That was the last time I saw them. Yesterday, I heard about the shooting that had happened in Clapham, but I didn't think too much of it. Today, I saw the picture of the victim.
Billy Cox. Brother of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was apparently coming home when she found him, dying of a gunshot wound. There was absolutely nothing she could do.
What sort of sick person would shoot a 15 year old cold-blooded, and leave him for his 13 year old sister to find?
I mean, OK, he was in a gang, and used to deal drugs, but from what people know, he was trying to get clean. No one deserves a death like that, no matter who they are.
Elissa is not my real name. I wish it was, as it seems to suit me more than my real name. I've been blogging on Vox for quite a while now, and I've enjoyed it immensely. It became sort of my 'private' blog, where I could share all my secrets online, without worrying about who was reading it, as was the case with my public blog. Vox was a relatively new service then, and was still in the beta stages. A couple of months back, an acquaintance of mine found my Vox. I don't know about you, but I really didn't want people I knew reading my innermost thoughts online, plus I wasn't sure how many people she had given the link to. The result of it was all the private stuff that I used to post stopped, and I was once again blog-less, shall we say. I've still been blogging every now and then on my Vox, but I haven't been blogging as much as I used to. I finally made a decision to move my blog here. So, if you're wondering who the hell I am, hopefully this should draw some light on the matter.
